Historical Marker 
Cleveland Civil Rights Trail

In 2023, significance of the 16-year journey of Black Clevelanders to acquire a garden of their own in the context of African American struggles to obtain equitable access to public spaces in the Civil Rights era was recognized by the Ohio History Connection with an historical marker at the garden.

The African American garden was also included as a stop on Cleveland Restoration Society’s  Cleveland Civil Rights Trail.

 The marker was unveiled and dedicated June 19 2023 at the AAACG’s Juneteenth celebration at the African American Cultural Garden.
